More than 1,400 Consumers Energy customers in the East Grand Rapids area woke up without power Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The outage was reported around 6:30 a.m.
Electrical equipment was damaged in the area, though it’s unclear what caused the outage to occur, according to Roger Morgenstern, a spokesperson for the energy provider.
Police were notified of the outage, but didn’t receive report of any crash involving a utility pole, according to Kent County Central Dispatch.
A Consumers Energy crew has been dispatched to the affected area, and Morgenstern estimated that power would be restored to the area by 9 a.m.
