The city of Grand Rapids is known nationally for its craft-brewed beers, and now we can add yet another top shelf brewery and restaurant to the list!
A new craft beer bar and restaurant called 7 Monks Taproom has announced plans to open a 3rd Michigan location on the ever-expanding Michigan street corridor. Located at 740 Michigan St. NE, executives confirmed the new location during the Craft Brewers Conference last week in Philadelphia. The bar and restaurant is part of a mixed-used development along Michigan Ave that will offer 54 apartments, retail shops, and even underground parking.
Matt Cozzens and Jim Smolak are the brainchild behind the new 5,500 square foot restaurant and bar – including 25-foot ceilings and a mezzanine that overlooks the main bar. The Grand Rapids location will have 57 beers on tap, offer live music and a variety of pub-type fare on the menu.
7 Monks Taproom will be a nice addition to the already successful taprooms in Grand Rapids. The flagship 7 Monks Taproom in Traverse City has twice been named one of America’s 100 Best Beer Bars by Draft Magazine.
Cozzens also pointed to a number of breweries in the Grand Rapids area that the partners know and admire, saying he looks forward to working with the brewing community in the region. The Grand Rapids location will have 57 taps, as well as offer “gastro pub food” and live music.
