We have heard alot lately about health insurance and the fact that everyone must be covered in case they get sick, but what about a toothache? Millions of people are without dental insurance and if you have visited the dentist lately you know that it’s not cheap to get a tooth fixed that is causing pain.
For those on a limited income and are unable to afford going to the dentist, your prayers may be answered. Exalta Health is conducting a FREE Dental Day on July 21st, 2017.
The non-profit clinic is located at 2060 Division Ave S. and is expected to accommodate as many patients as it can between the hours of 8a.m and 1:30p.m.
There is no need to make an appointment, but get in line early if you expect to take advantage of this free service. There will be 45 staff and volunteers ready to help as many people as possible during those hours.
While it is not possible to solve all patients’ dental problems in one visit, the staff will help do what they can and make plans for the patients’ next step in treatment.
“Having to visit the emergency room for temporary relief of dental pain is an example of what drives up the cost of healthcare,” said Bill Paxton, Exalta’s president.
It is estimated that up to 20 percent of Kent County’s population are not taking good care of or are getting the dental treatment they need, according to a 2016 Health Survey.
