A grant of $80,000 was awarded to the Grand Rapids Public Library this week. The grant is intended to support the library’s community programs and materials.
The funds will help boost the library’s rare book collections and audiobook inventory. It will will help boost the historical reading material about the state of Michigan and Grand Rapids.
The money will also be used to support the library’s early literacy program and a reading club for fifth grade students in Grand Rapids Public Schools.
The new found money comes after efforts by the Grand Rapids Public Library Foundation, a non-profit group that is dedicated to support the GRPL in its mission.
